Miki was raised on the island of Maui where she graduated from Kula Kaiapuni o Maui, the Hawaiian Language Immersion program of Maui. She learned Hawaiian history, traditions, culture, and language, which allowed her to become more culturally and socially aware of not only Hawaiian culture, but of other cultures and communities flourishing in Hawai‘i Nei.
Miki graduated from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in both Psychology and Religion. Previously, she worked at Habitat for Humanity Maui’s ReStore, where she helped direct and assist volunteers with disabilities with projects within the store. She is currently working at Maui Job Corps as a Resident Advisor (RA). As an RA, she promotes independent living by facilitating positive living habits for students, preparing them for successful careers and life outside of Job Corps.
Miki’s compassionate and positive personality, and her experience with persons with disabilities will be a welcome addition as she serves the people of Maui as an Independent Living Specialist with AILH.
