Hurricane Douglas, the first hurricane of the 2020 central Pacific hurricane season, is approaching Hawaii and is forecast to reach our state on Sunday. Although this major hurricane is expected to weaken to a tropical storm as it passes over or near the islands, Douglas will likely bring strong winds, dangerous surf conditions, heavy rain, and possible flooding. It is not certain which parts of Hawaii will feel the most impact, but residents across the state should expect severe weather, some as early as Saturday evening.
