LDAH Conference Travels to Molokai
October 5, 2018
Children, parents, and service providers gathered for the 11th Annual LDAH Traveling Conference on Molokai last month. IL Specialist, Julie Agliam was on hand to share about AILH programs and services as well as partake in the informative presentations and activities. Julie offered an interactive matching game at her AILH booth and children enjoyed playing the game and receiving prizes.
Will Carlson from the Department of Education Special Education services on Molokai and Trixy Tambaoan from Leadership in Disabilities & Achievement of Hawaii (LDAH) shared excellent presentations and valuable information for families that have children who are receiving or have been referred for special education services.
Tutu and Me facilitated a group activity using foam and magnetic blocks with instructions to work together to create a building structure. Participants attempted to build towers first on our own and then as a group, learning to share and use critical thinking skills. Activities such as this helped adults understand how better to teach and reach our children who all have different learning styles.
