Just one week after the devastating Lahaina brushfire, residents, businesses, and strangers alike, rallied together in support and unity for the families who lost their homes. Two key sites were started on Facebook: the Lahaina Strong Fundraiser by Jordan Ruidas of Lahaina, which is raising money for the affected families; and the Lahaina Strong-Waiola Resource Hub, launched by volunteers who have been collecting donations for the families out of the historic Waiola Church on Wainee Street in Lahaina.
On Saturday, September 1st, the church held a Multi-Agency Resource Event where State, County, and Non-Profit Resource assistance was available. AILH was on-hand to provide information and services. It was a beautiful sight to see this community malama one another…Lahaina Strong!
