In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the Maui County Office on Aging hosted, “Cherish our Kupuna: A Conference on Elder Rights and Protection” at the Kahili Golf Course on June 15. Representing AILH were Executive Director, Roxanne Bolden and Advocacy Coordinator, Brian Hauser. It was an enlightening day of valuable information sharing amongst community organizations and State departments who share the common goal of supporting and cherishing our Kupuna.
Attendees were captivated by guest speaker, Kathy Greenlee, Vice President of Aging & Health Policy at the Center for Practical Bioethics and former Administrator of the Administration on Community Living (ACL) and Assistant Secretary for Aging, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (appointed by President Obama) from 2009 to 2016.
