Tammy Shiroma is currently a wife and stay-at-home-mom with three children. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and started her professional career with the Nature Conservancy of Hawaii where she obtained experience in program management and administration. She went on to work for a private environmental engineering firm as the program manager for U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Army contracts that supported environmental work in H
awaii and Guam. Tammy’s area of expertise grew to include public relations, marketing, and graphic design while specializing in community relations for the military. She left her professional career to start a family when she became pregnant with her first child.
In 2008, Tammy’s health began to rapidly decline and doctors struggled to find a diagnosis. Three years later, including nearly two years of being bedridden and mostly confined to home and a wheelchair, a neurologist diagnosed her with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), an incurable autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. Since then, Tammy has regained her ability to walk and drive again. Her condition fluctuates on a daily basis and she utilizes various strategies to keep her worst symptoms in check and her MS in remission.
Today, Tammy is busy being a full-time mom. She enjoys a variety of creative pursuits including graphic design, paper crafting, and most recently, developing a bath and body care line. Tammy is also active with another local non-proft group, Hawaii Fi-Do Service Dogs. Go Back.
