It may seem as though a small group of seamstresses in Hawaii and a herd of elephants across the world have nothing to do with each other. With the creation of a beautiful handcrafted blanket made by AILH’s Liv! Zentangles (one of our Oahu TBI support groups) being sent to Save Elephant Foundation for their Thailand Cares project, a bridge has been formed.
Dave Lawrence of Hawaii Public Radio, introduced us to Elephant Nature Park and their parent company, Save Elephant Foundation after interviewing their founder, Lek Chailert. Dave shared with our Executive Director, Roxanne Bolden, about the impact that Chailert and the incredible philanthropy work of this organization had on him and his desire to spread the word about the needs of these vulnerable creatures. Roxanne and Dave felt that they could have a hand in bringing together the talents of our Liv! Zentangles group with the needs of the baby elephants. And thus this meaningful relationship and beautiful blanket was created!
