Brian Hauser, AILH’s Advocacy Coordinator, has been out and about in the community representing AILH at various programs and events ensuring our support and advocacy of disability awareness.

On May 2nd, Brian attended the Maui Mayor’s mental health proclamation ceremony recognizing this under-served population. Mental health is a hidden disability, which is often not recognized. May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
- On May 4th, Brian attended a screening of “Intelligent Lives,” a movie about a group of young adults who have intellectual disabilities as they challenge perceptions of intelligence while navigating high school, college, and the workforce. The Self Advocacy Advisory Council on Maui purchased the movie to show to the Maui community to bring about public awareness. The screening was held at King Kekaulike High School.
- Bringing awareness to children’s mental health issues, Brian participated in a sign waving event with fellow community supporters on May 9th.
