Maui Consumers Ring in the Holidays

Maui consumers came from near and far to celebrate the holidays together at Leis Family Class Act Restaurant on the campus of UH Maui College on December 7.  It was a wonderful time of enjoying local entertainment, ono food, and most of all a time of sweet fellowship.

Recognized for their special contribution to the AILH ohana as well as to their Maui community, pictured with AILH staff L-R: Teresa Massoth, Kathleen Kenney, Brian Hauser, David Marquez, Lani Cabanilla, and Linda Boring

Teresa Massoth was recognized for her tireless efforts to promote the Vision Impairment and Blindness Education and Peer Support group among seniors experiencing vision loss. Teresa is very involved in many senior groups in Kihei and is always on the lookout for those with any type of visual impairment. She helps them to get in touch with IL Specialist, Kathleen Kenney so they can become a part of the group and learn more about beneficial resources. Teresa was also a strong advocate for transportation to/from the group for those members who live in Kihei. She was instrumental in securing the MEO transportation that is now in place for the monthly meetings.

David Marquez is a faithful constant and a positive light in our AILH ohana, since we’ve been connected with the Food Bank. He has been a tremendous help to our support group, setting up and organizing the food distribution for those who attend.

Linda Boring has been a member of our group for almost a year. She is a blessing not to mention a generous person always sharing her homegrown avocados and sweet oranges. She has also been an incredible help in coordinating our special group events such as our Thanksgiving luncheon.
