First Molokai Keiki Support Group Meeting of 2020

Molokai Keiki support group members enjoyed making peer connections through different table/floor play centers and got active on the playground learning the game of kickball.  We also celebrated a fellow peer’s birthday and each child was able to decorate their cupcake with the toppings of their choice. Children are learning the importance of building friendships within their group and enjoy the time they spend together at their support group gatherings.
Our group has decided to do 2 activities per month and parents have agreed to open up their homes for activities, assist with providing ingredients needed for food preparation activities and help with providing healthy snacks for the Keiki support groups.
The goal is for the children to start “Making Mo’olelo’s” (making fun memories) that will help them learn life skills to eventually live independently in their community.
This months activities are:
  •  making personal bagel pizzas, iced mamaki tea with lemon slices and a fresh fruit bowl out of a watermelon (watermelon, apples, melon and grapes).  Children will be making all of the items for their meal as a team and sharing their experiences with each other before they eat their creations.
  •  movie and potluck night, with popcorn station and all the toppings for the movie.
